Bringing Good Food and Good Times Back in an Old Fashioned Way.

Mealey’s began as a stop for weary traveler’s making their journey down the National Pike that ran from the western counties of Maryland to Baltimore.  Formerly known as the Utz Hotel, our building has served as a store, a hotel and, most recently, a restaurant.  The Mealey family started a tradition of good food and good service in 1919 and that tradition has carried on through four owners.  It is difficult to identify the makeup of traditions, but like good recipes, they must have sound ingredients and they must suit the taste of a selective public.  The Mealey’s tradition is firmly rooted in the heritage of the town and community by people who know the value of the past as they face the future.

The Mealey’s tradition culminates in good food. And even with the food, the past is present in the recipes handed down from generation to generation, recipes for good food requiring the best ingredients to satisfy the taste of a public that visits Mealey’s Restaurant and Pub to experience a living tradition.

We have continued with some of the classics, such corn fritters and fried chicken along with apple butter on the tables for our homemade rolls. We have also added some of our “classics” that include Jack’s fried clams and freshly cut steaks.  We look forward to serving you and your families.
